This article explains system requirements and settings that enable your organization to have the best experience with the Emtrain app.

Operating Systems

Emtrain is optimized to work with the most commonly used operating systems.

  • OS X 10.9 or higher
  • iOS 10 or higher
  • Android 7.0 or higher
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 7 may be used but users may notice some small formatting issues that don’t impact the functionality or learning experience. 

Compatible Browsers

For all users, we recommend the Google Chrome browser for best compatibility. This includes tablet, smartphone, laptop, or desktop browser on machines running the Android operating system or Apple iOS.

For users accessing the app in Learner mode, the most recent versions of the following web browsers are compatible:

  • Chrome (Google) - recommended
  • Safari (Apple)
  • Firefox (Mozilla)
  • Internet Explorer 11 (Microsoft)
  • Edge (Microsoft), except Edge41

For admins working in Manage, only the Google Chrome browser is supported.

Additional operating systems and internet browsers may work, but are not officially supported.

Other System Requirements

  • Audio: Portions of the training content require a sound card and speakers or headphones.
  • Video: Enable unrestricted access to Emtrain video streaming URLs (some computers have URL restrictions).
  • Cookies: Enable cookies so that your learners' server-side settings and preferences are retained.
  • JavaScript: Enable so that your Internet browser allows pop-ups and animations display properly.
  • PDF reader: Needed to view and download learning-related documents, including company policies.
  • TLS 1.2: Enable to create an encrypted connection.

VPN, Remote Desktops, and Thin Client Systems

Emtrain training content makes use of audio and video elements which may cause issues when run over a Virtual Private Network (VPN) or Thin Client environment. It is highly recommended that the training be accessed in a web browser outside of the VPN/Thin Client network for proper performance. Training taken over a VPN/Thin Client network may need Audio and/or Video disabled to function properly. Emtrain cannot provide support for issues that arise from VPN/Thin Client settings or configurations.
