Learner Language Selection

Learners have the option to experience training assignments in a variety of languages other than English. This is helpful for learners who speak other languages or learn more easily in another language.

As an admin, you have the option to decide which languages are available to learners.  

Our system utilizes a Machine Learning translation tool to make this possible. This means that the translation is done by machine, rather than a native speaker of other languages.

If a learner needs a language that’s not on our list of currently-supported languages, please contact your Client Success Manager (CSM) to request it. 

Selecting Language Options

Your language selections determine which languages will be available to your learners. Depending on the number of languages you select, that list will be longer or shorter for learners. We recommend being selective about the languages you include to give users a reasonable list of languages to choose from.

To make the selections:

  1. Navigate to Learner Language, located in the Site Config area of Manage. This displays all available languages.
  2. Check the boxes for the languages that you want to make available to learners.
  3. Save your selections.

If you do not select any languages on this screen, all of the languages will be available to learners.

The Learner Experience

When a learner selects a particular language, their learning content will appear in that language:

  1. Written content appears in the selected language.
  2. Audio narration of written content plays in the selected language, if it is available. 
  3. Videos play in English—with subtitles in the selected language.
