This article explains how time requirements work in Emtrain courses and the learner experience.

Some courses include a minimum time requirement to help ensure learners spend enough time reviewing and engaging with the material. These requirements support your compliance goals while still giving learners flexibility and control over how they move through their training.

Emtrain focuses on creating engaging, interactive content that keeps learners interested without barriers that slow them down. Our courses use interactive scenarios, videos, and questions to keep learners involved.

When a course includes a time requirement, a few helpful features work together to make sure learners meet it in a way that’s fair and transparent, without creating a frustrating experience.

How the Time Requirement Works

  1. Clear Notification at Course Launch
As soon as learners start a timed course, a message appears with the minimum time they must spend in the training before they can complete it.

  2. Visible On-Screen Time Requirement
A timer stays on screen throughout the course, so learners always check how much time they’ve spent and how time they still need to spend.

  3. Timer Pauses During Inactivity
If a learner steps away or doesn’t interact with the course for five minutes, the time pauses automatically. When the learner comes back, a message appears asking the learner to resume when ready. This way, the timer only counts time when learners are actually engaged with their training.

  4. End-of-Course Reminder
If a learner finishes all the course content before meeting the minimum time requirement, a message appears that prompts them to go back and spend more time with the material until the required time is met.
