This article explains the types of training content found in the Content Library and how they work together to create training and assignments for your learners.

What Are the Content Types?

Content types are the building blocks of your training programs. Understanding these different types helps you select and organize the right content to meet your organization’s training goals. Each content type serves a specific purpose and you can combine them in different ways to create a variety of training experiences.

Courses

A course is a collection of multiple lessons bundled together to provide comprehensive training on a subject. Courses have unique features:

  1. They have a minimum time requirement option, so you can ensure that learners engage with content for a required length of time.
  2. You can provide a custom course completion message for learners.
  3. Learners can receive a certificate of completion when they finish a course.

Microlessons

A microlesson is a short piece of content designed for standalone learning. They are designed to provide short, focused bursts of learning on a particular topic. Assign microlessons individually or as part of a larger training plan.

Course Lessons

A course lesson is a self-contained piece of content focused on a particular topic. Course lessons are made up of a sequence of cards, with each card presenting content such as a video, questions, an interactive graphic, or text on a single screen. While some course lessons are helpful to learners individually and you can deploy them that way, most work best in the context of the course they’re part of.
